AWD-134 In the days when I was young and foolish, I used to think that a young man could do as he pleased with his body -- make it perform all manner of strenuous actions, bend and twist and stretch it in all sorts of indelicate ways. I was wrong. Now I know that there is an innate connection between the physical body and the spiritual mind, with one affecting the other in ways I never imagined. I do not pretend to know all there is to know about these connections, but I have learned enough to dimly understand their complex nature. To know oneself, one must first know one's body, and to know one's body, one must first know its history.
In the aftermath of the great battle of Beerhetta, as we stood gazing in awe at the devastation all around us, I realized that the truth of our past was but a small part of the great big mystery that enveloped and consumed all mankind. We were but specks of dust on the surface of an insignificant planet, caught up in the cosmic grandeur of an infinite universe. And yet, as I stood there, my heart swelled with pride, knowing that I had played a small part in the unfolding drama of human history.
So, dear reader, if you are like me, and you wonder what it all means, don't give up hope. Seek the truth, and it will find you. For as the great poet John Donne once wrote, "No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main." We are all connected in ways we cannot fully comprehend, and it is our shared strengths and weaknesses that make us the extraordinary beings that we are.
